Muccigrosso Vineyards is a family-run endeavor committed to producing small quantities of hand made fine wines designed to satisfy everybody. Since the early 80′s when we first planted vines on our Santa Cruz Mountain property, we have studied the winemaking process from vine to glass. Over the years we have learned a great deal about getting results with as little intervention possible. Thanks to a broadening fan base, recent seasonal fortune and a foolhardy sense of adventure, we have become a bonded winery.

Muns Vineyard brushes the sky on the Loma Prieta ridge top above Monterey Bay at 2600 feet looking out over Santa Cruz and the Monterey Peninsula. This is the highest Pinot Noir vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a prime growing region for this luscious winegrape. We enjoy the coastal climate of the mountains, with cool fog lapping at our feet in the summer, gentle breezes and sunlight — perfect for growing premium Pinot Noir and Syrah. Moderate days and cool nights, along with diligent personal attention in our 13-acre owner-operated vineyard, produces fruit with rich and complex flavors. We have blended Dijon clones 114, 115, 667 and 777 to provide a fruit-forward, complex and well-balanced Pinot Noir.
We grow 12 acres of Pinot Noir and source most of it to other wineries. You will find Muns Vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs under other wineries’ labels, in the Santa Cruz Mountains and elsewhere. We produce a small amount of Pinot Noir under our own label, as well as our Syrah.
Minimal intervention in the winery allows our unique terroir to shine. Barrel aging in 30% new oak for about 16 months adds soft tannins that accentuate, but not dominate, the beautiful fruit in this special wine. The wine drinks well now and is a delicious complement with food, and will bottle-age for years to come. Enjoy ‘heaven-in-a-bottle’ from our ridge top vineyard above the bay!

At Myka Cellars, a holistic approach to winemaking is taken. All of the parts of a wine should be in balance, yet all should be expressed. Each wine should express a sense of place and varietal character. To achieve this, we employ gentle handling techniques on micro lot wines. We have no fermentors larger than one ton and many of our wines are only one or two barrel lots. We use a combination of new world and old world techniques, bridging the two styles in a way that utilizes the best attributes of both. Our wines of more than one grape involve a co-fermentation with all grapes fermented together to create complex and unique flavors that are only obtained through this process. We use oak barrels to accentuate the existing flavors of our wines and are careful not to let the oak dominate and become the central flavor in the wine. This process makes every vintage an expression of that year and a true encapsulation of each vineyard. Our wine is art from the day the grapes started to grow until the day you enjoy it. In the cellars we use only sustainable winemaking practices. There are no additives used in your winemaking. We start with sustainable, natural grapes and that’s all we use.
