Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard has been making European-style, food-friendly, cellar-worthy wines since 1975. We are well-known for making Pinot Noir that can age beautifully for three decades.
Our basic philosophy is that wine should dance with food and make the food/wine experience more than a sum of the ingredients. This means making wines with moderate alcohol and oak so that the true characteristics of the grape varieties are expressed. You won’t find any high-alcohol, jammy, oaky wines here.
In 2008 we launched a second brand, Quinta Cruz, which features only varieties that originated on the Iberian Peninsula but are now grown here in California. These Portuguese and Spanish varieties include Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Souzao, Graciano, and Tinto Cão.
After more-or-less hiding away in the mountains for 32 years, the winery moved into the city of Santa Cruz in 2008 and opened the first tasting room in our long history. We are located in an area where you can walk to many other tasting rooms nearby and are only a few blocks from the beach and Natural Bridges State Park.

Savannah-Chanelle produces in the range of eight to ten thousand cases annually, with over 80 percent dedicated to Pinot Noir, the winery’s raison d’être. Michael Ballard and Winemaker Tony Craig (former head winemaker of David Bruce Winery) have joined forces based on their mutual passion for making Pinot Noir wines. Tony continues to produce our small lot, limited Estate wines as well as our wonderful “Coast View” Syrah made from a small, single vineyard site located high in the Gavilian Mountain range above Monterey, California.
Conveniently located only 3.3 miles from the Village of Saratoga, this working winery is close to Silicon Valley but worlds away from the everyday business environment.

Founded on the principle that great wine can only come from a great source, Silvertip Vineyards was begun with the intent of producing wines that express the uniqueness of the soil and climate of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
In 1967 Gerald Nelson purchased 162 acres of Santa Cruz Mountain land, and soon after planted the land with Christmas trees. For 30 years, the property was known as Nelson’s Christmas Tree Farm and the family grew a variety of Christmas trees, the most prized trees among them were the slow growing Silvertip Firs.
In 1999 the Nelson family decided to exchange Christmas trees for grape vines and 9 acres of Pinot Noir and Syrah were planted. Over the years since establishing the vineyard, the high quality fruit that the estate produces has been sold to numerous wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains. In 2008 the family decided to venture out on their own and create a brand that could highlight the exceptional character of the fruit produced from the estate.
Silvertip Vineyards began with the intent to produce nothing less than some of the finest Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah that California can produce. With a dedication to the unique terroir of the vineyard, the mission is to create wines that will not only prove worthy of ageing, but will also inspire, delight, and bring joy to the senses.
