We invite you to come and explore! The Santa Cruz Mountains wine region is nestled in one of the most unique natural environments in the world. With its mountainous terrain, marine and valley influences, varied micro-climates, and diverse soils the Santa Cruz Mountains offers our vintners the ideal place to grow high quality grapes and to produce some of the world’s most distinct and terroir driven wines.
The Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation encompasses more than 850 square miles beginning from San Francisco down the Peninsula to Silicon Valley and Gilroy over to Watsonville, Monterey Bay and back up to Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay. Due to the size of the Santa Cruz Mountains wine region it is often useful for our visitors to plan their trip by winery hours of operation, sub-regions or by urban winery locations.
La Honda WineryLa Honda Winery
La Honda Winery and Post & Trellis Vineyards, headquartered in Redwood City, California, painstakingly farms over thirty noteworthy one-of-a-kind private estate vineyards located throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains – Woodside, Portola Valley, Atherton, Los Altos Hills, and Saratoga. The fruit from these singular vineyards are available only to La Honda Winery and no other winery in the world. The small batch winemaking from La Honda Winery reflects the unique terroir of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation – shallow soils, steep terrain, and coastal influence of warm days and cool nights. The unique attributes of each cuvee are highlighted by blending state-of-the-art equipment with old-world hand-crafted winemaking expertise. Our family-operated winery produces wines that are food friendly with long aging potential. We produce award winning vineyard designated Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and many other wines.
La Rusticana VineyardsLa Rusticana Vineyards
La Rusticana d’Orsa is a unique estate of rare beauty tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains, an appellation dedicated to fine wine production since the 1880s. The life’s work of Frank and Marilyn Dorsa, the vineyard is set atop terraced rolling hills delineated by rock walls and accented by roses, Italian Cypresses, sculpture gardens, lily ponds, and fountains. It is a spiritual microcosm of Old World charm and peace seemingly light-years away from the bustling Silicon Valley below.
